An existing family house lacked engagement with its site bordering Cedar Creek and the view to Clear Mountain beyond. Our brief was to address this while also rethinking how the shared part of the house might operate. A segment of existing roof has been extruded out towards the landscape with internal, external and landscape spaces sequentially strung out beneath it. The existing language of a masonry core encircled by recycled timber posts has been inverted. The new structure uses masonry remnants at its perimeter, and within this, recycled timber pergolas and beams order scale and thresholds to both interior and exterior.
