This project doubles the size of a post-war cottage in a Mitchelton neighbourhood that reads like a case study for this era of Brisbane’s built history. The embellishment of these houses typically was limited to timber highlights in large scale geometric designs either used to mark the entry or decorate roof gables. With the dislocation of the central entry to a new half level position at the side of the house, our design offers a reinterpretation of the traditional entry facade that can sit comfortably against the authentic fabric of the neighbourhood context.
